Nicaragua Land of Real Estate Opportunity

image_intro

If you have a sense of adventure and a pioneering spirit, Nicaragua may be the real estate investment for you. Many are comparing Nicaragua to the Costa Rica of 20 years ago…very good real estate prices and an infrastructure in its early stages. If you love a good buy and don’t mind the inconveniences that may come with it then Nicaragua may be your next Latin American real estate investment.

Climate

The climate in Nicaragua is best described as tropical and has only two seasons…wet and dry. The dry season usually sees warm day’s, mild nights and occasional rain. The air is less humid and you’ll see many more visitors during this time of year. The dry season spans January through June and temperatures often range in the 80’s during this time of year.

The wet season lasts from July through December with the heaviest rain falling in August and September. The eastern region of Nicaragua gets more rain than the west. The average day during the rainy season starts out sunny and mild. As mid day approaches clouds build and rain usually starts soon after. The rain can be heavy at times but is usually short lived. Once the rain ends the late afternoon happily welcomes a cooling breeze that relieves some of the humidity; the skies are partly cloudy. The evenings are usually mild and very enjoyable. During the rainy season it’s not uncommon to see temperatures in the 90+ degree range.

People and culture of Nicaragua

The culture in Nicaragua can vary greatly from region to region. Western region culture is the result of a strong early Spanish influence. These people speak Spanish as their first language and most are Catholic. In the eastern region you’ll find a more European influence with many speaking English and the Protestant religion is more prevalent there. Along the Atlantic you’ll find the typical Caribbean flair with an apparent African influence. Last, there are still small groups of indigenous people who cling to their tribal traditions and speak their own language scattered throughout the country. Despite their seemingly cultural differences, Nicaraguans are a proud people who worship faithfully and their lives revolve around family and tradition.
