While other countries have enjoyed a recent growth explosion of investors looking for that lucrative investment and retirees searching for a lower cost of living in an unspoiled paradise, the Dominican Republic has remained off the radar and has yet to see the huge influx of foreigners. But the word is spreading fast…the Dominican Republic can offer real estate deals now, that no longer exist in other popular Caribbean destinations.

Climate

Hispanola is an island in the Greater Antilles archipelago. It is occupied by two Latin American Countries, Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Because the Dominican Republic is situated on a Caribbean island, the climate can be described as none other than tropical. The Endless Summer, as many call the climate of the Dominican Republic, has an average yearly temperature that hovers around 75 to 80 degrees. The beaches will get warmer and the mountains in the Dominican Republic will be cooler. With a wet and a dry season, the Dominican Republic sees the most rainfall in the wet season along the northern border. This season spans from May through November and despite the rain, visitors see sun every day. The average rainfall is about 55 to 60 inches per year. The warmer months of January through April enjoy warm days cool evenings and balmy sea breezes and sees a large number of foreign visitors.

Culture

The Dominican Republic, like so many other Caribbean countries has a mingled heritage based on native inhabitants mixed with the blood, traditions and customs of the early Spanish European explorers. Add a little African influence and you have a modern day Dominican. Dominicans are devout Catholics and celebrate their religion freely. Many holidays and festivals are based on the Catholic religion.
